Your first visit
Whether you’re exploring SMILE, LASIK, EVO ICL, PIE, or cataract care, your first appointment is about understanding your eyes—not rushing a decision. Here’s how to prepare and what usually happens.
Typical visit flow
Exact order can vary by location and your reason for visit; your team will guide you.
-
Before you arrive
Complete any forms or requests sent by our office. If you wear contact lenses, ask whether we’ve asked you to pause them before measurements—timing depends on lens type and what we’re planning.
-
Check-in
We’ll confirm your information, verify ID, and review basics like medications and health history.
-
Diagnostics
Advanced imaging and measurements help us map the cornea, lens, and ocular surface. This data drives candidacy and personalized planning—not a one-size-fits-all pitch.
-
Doctor consultation
You’ll discuss goals, lifestyle, risks, benefits, and alternatives. We want you to leave with a clear understanding of whether you’re a strong candidate and what sensible next steps look like.
-
After the visit
If dilation was used, bring sunglasses and expect temporary blur for near tasks. We’ll outline follow-up, pricing or financing resources if you’re ready, and how to reach us with questions.
What to bring
- Photo ID and your insurance or vision plan cards (if applicable—we’ll explain what may or may not apply to elective vision correction).
- A list of current medications and eye drops.
- Your glasses and, if possible, your contact lens prescription or boxes.
- Sunglasses for the ride home if eyes may be dilated.
- Questions written down—easy to forget in the moment.
