What happens during LASIK surgery?

During the LASIK procedure at his Los Angeles practice, Dr. Khanna first administers numbing eye drops. Dr. Khanna first uses a special microkeratome to create a corneal flap. Using the detailed Wavefront map of your eye, Dr. Khanna uses the precise excimer laser to reshape your corneas depending on your need for correction. The LASIK surgery carries no more risk than many other common or routine surgeries. With the amazing technology of the VISX laser, Intralase laser, risk of infection, glare, halos or diminished night vision is significantly reduced. Is LASIK surgery painful?

In Dr. Khanna’s hands the LASIK surgery is not a painful procedure. Some patients may experience mild, temporary discomfort that subsides quickly.

How quick is recovery time for LASIK?

LASIK patients are usually able to use their new vision immediately, but Dr. Khanna recommends you take a long nap following surgery to let your eyes rest. Some people choose to relax the next day, but many are back to work the next day!

Many of our LASIK patients are extremely happy with 20/20 vision or better following their procedure!
