Quality of Life
>
> Here in Corona we get a lot of older patients and to hear some of their stories is interesting. They talk about the days before phones and even before cars-- can you imagine?
> So what would life be like without the internet..hmmm
> It is tough to compare LASIK to these great inventions, but for some, you can.
> There are thousands of people that are 100% dependent on their glasses or contacts, people that can't do daily chores without them.
> It's easy to take for granted good vision if you have not had the surgery, or needed corrective lenses of any kind. Try walking around with a pair of trial frames on to blur your vision for just ten minutes or try driving to Subway for lunch.. (kidding don't to that one haha) I have seen so many lives changed in the recent years and endless stories of not needing to worry about a broken pair of glasses, a lost contact lens, and hours at the optometrist office waiting to be seen, and not to mention the time off work, and cost of gas.. well I won't even go there. Remember it only takes ten minuets with Dr. Khanna and you are done for life, that is a big value for many people.
> So I'm not being gun shy on the price of LASIK at five thousand dollars, that's the easy part for me because most of the patients can put this all in to perspective, plus I believe quality of life can be improved with the product of LASIK.

Sherman Oaks woman to undergo innovative cataracts procedure
Here is an excerpt from a news story in the LA Daily News. Dr. Khanna congratulates Dr. Uday Devgan of Maloney Vision Institute for restoring vision to the blind.
For people who are unable to travel to Beverly Hills, the good news is that they can have this procedure in Westlake Village, Valencia or Corona. Presbyopic Implants can impart distance and near vision in the same eye.
The first troubling sign of vision loss for Catrina White occurred while she was riding a tandem bicycle with a deaf and blind person behind her. White hit a pothole she didn't see.
As an interpreter for deaf people as well as a helper for the blind, she knew not being able to see could severely impact her livelihood, not to mention her active lifestyle as an avid runner, cyclist and kayaker.
"It was a big shock when I realized I couldn't see anymore, especially at night. My (deaf and blind) client was helping me get around. That was really embarrassing," the Sherman Oaks woman said. "This is what I built my 18-year career on, working with the deaf and blind. For them to be leading me at night, that was not supposed to happen."
But thanks to a new cataracts procedure that she will undergo today, which will be broadcast live on the Internet so 900 eye surgeons can learn how to do it, White, 38, should regain her full eyesight.
She will be one of two people whose surgeries will be performed online today by Dr. Uday Devgancq, a partner with Maloney Vision Institute and chief of ophthalmology at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar.
